The Association of Free Lutheran congregations (AFLC) is a growing fellowship of over 300 congregations nationwide. It began in Thief River Falls in 1962. The AFLC Headquarters, Bible School and Seminary are located in Minneapolis.

The Association seeks to be a spiritual movement that:

  • Recognizes the Bible as being a inerrant and the authority in all areas of life.
  • Recognizes that the teaching and preaching of God's Word is the main task of the Church.
  • Believes that the Congregation is the right form of Kingdom of God on earth, with no authority over it but the Word and Spirit of God.
  • Believes that Christian unity is a spiritual concept and not a man-made organization, and
  • Believes that Christians are to be different from unbelievers and are to be salt and light in the world.
